Your hotel with swimming pool in Morzine

A beautiful family story

In 1934, Morzine inaugurated the Pléney cable car with great fanfare. At the time, the cable car was only used for walks and views of the Alps, leaving skiing to the reassuring meadows of the valley.
Just before the war, Andrée and François Passaquin transformed the family farm to open the Hôtel des Sports, one of the first establishments to welcome tourists to Morzine.

Sporting in Morzine

Unfortunately, the difficult times that followed forced them to close until 1945, when they were finally able to devote themselves entirely to welcoming holidaymakers. François, a carpenter by trade, was already keen to introduce his guests to the warmth of wood by constantly maintaining and renovating the hotel, while Andrée, a skilled seamstress, took care of the interiors.

Their son Claude, who learned the trade of chef, soon joined them and took over the business with his wife Christiane in the 1980s. They renamed the hotel «Le Sporting». A lover of good taste and a gifted woodworker, Claude, in turn, never ceased to embellish and develop the hotel, while Christiane brought her personal touch to the decoration of the chalet and her dedication to welcoming guests.

Passion, summits and sharing

Today, Sporting is run by Nadège, «the daughter of the house,» and her husband Fred. It is a story of passion, achievements, and sharing.

Every stay tells a story, that of a family united by a love of the mountains and sport for four generations.
Here, conviviality is a tradition, with the warmth of wood, laughter over a good bottle at the bar and simple moments shared after a hard day's work.

When sport shapes the art of hospitality

Nadège, who competed in skiing for many years, now divides his free time between motor racing — a passion passed on to him by his father. Claude, renowned rally driver — and mountain trail running.
Alongside her driver, she makes it a point of honour to fly the flag for Sporting on the French Rally Championship events.
A true bundle of energy and passion, Nadège embodies the spirit of the establishment. Always looking towards the peaks, she loves to share her secret itineraries and treat her guests to her homemade jams, prepared with care and generosity.

At his side, Fred, a former ski patroller and rescue worker in the Avoriaz ski area, knows the mountains like no one else. An avid ski tourer and mountaineer, he has climbed some of the most beautiful and highest peaks in France and Switzerland. He is happy to share his tips for getting the most out of the Portes Du Soleil: the best slopes, the best views, and secret ski touring routes. In summer, he criss-crosses the mountain passes by bike, both in competition and for pleasure. The Route des Grandes Alpes holds no secrets for him! Don't hesitate to ask him for help in planning your bike rides!

As the day draws to a close, he will show you his homemade cold cuts, over a mountain aperitif that is both delicious and authentic.

A family adventure that continues

This year, Matiss joined the family business. After a successful career in professional hockey, he became the fourth generation to run the hotel. A sports enthusiast at heart, keen on cycling and golf, he now devotes his energy and enthusiasm to ensuring our guests enjoy an active and rejuvenating holiday in the mountains.

Killian, his brother, although not working in the family business, is not far from home. You can enjoy his delicious cocktails in the best pub in the resort.

Here, sportsmanship goes hand in hand with friendliness, sharing and well-being. Whether you come to enjoy the slopes, the trails or simply the fresh air, our family will be delighted to welcome you and help you discover our corner of the mountains... in a different way.
